Chappell Roan just made her Met Gala debut in an incredible look. This year’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with the dress code “Tailored for You,” and Chappell arrived in an all-pink suit, featuring a stained glass–esque pattern.
I mean, look at this coat???
A moment for her makeup!
Chappell works with stylist Genesis Webb, who recently spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about Chappell’s aesthetic. “She brings the element of glam drag, and then I bring an element of more punk club kid,” Genesis said, adding, “I love Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto, that very dark and long silhouette. Personally, I like a lot of black, but then there are designers who have recently taken over my brain, like Viktor & Rolf or Thom Browne. I love that Chappell World is opening me up to, like, ‘Oh, we can do a little color, we can add more, take more risks.’ And I’ve just gained a huge appreciation for the campy theatrical aspect not being so dark, like McQueen.”
Meanwhile, Chappell spoke about her “off-duty” style on Call Her Daddy, saying, “I’m very modest when it comes to my day-to-day. I used to dress fucking crazy. Before all of this happened and I had energy and light in my eyes, I would literally just wear my thong out, miniskirt, bottom ass cheeks out, nipples see through.”
Here’s another look at her Met Gala vibe, since we can’t get enough!
