Important: Doechii’s outfit at the 2025 “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” Met Gala is even more incredible than you could have possibly anticipated. The “Anxiety” singer stepped out wearing trouser shorts with a matching coat and tails by Pharrell and Louis Vuitton, paired with jewels from Tiffany & Co.

And can we have some appreciate for the afro, please?

Speaking to Teyana Taylor and Ego Nwodim on the carpet, Doechii said she was nervous for her first Met Gala. “This is one of the biggest nights in fashion, and for it to be so Black...I’m present, I’m here,” she said. The Grammy winner added that this year’s Met Gala theme matched perfectly with the vibe and inspiration for her album, Alligator Bites Never Heal. “I felt inspired by the theme of ‘student of hip-hop’ and I feel like that’s really dandy,” she said.

The 2025 Met Gala is being co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams—but Doechii is part of an A-list host committee that includes André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Grace Wales Bonner, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Regina King, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Olivier Rousteing, Tyla, Usher, and Kara Walker.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition will explore—per Marina Kellen and Max Hollein—“the importance of sartorial style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”
