Don't expect Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds to be in the sea of celebs walking the iconic steps of the Met on the first Monday in May. Multiple outlets report that the couple are skipping the Met Gala this year—despite Blake being a regular attendee in the past.
A source tells Us Weekly that Blake and Ryan's decision to pass on this year's carpet isn't "out of character," despite Blake's close ties to the Met Gala. As the insider, um, put it, “She’s not a Kardashian that goes every year.”
Meanwhile, TMZ spoke to a source "close to the couple" who said that their decision to skip this year's gala came before their lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and has "nothing to do" with it.
Blake and Ryan last attended the Met Gala in 2022, when they cochaired along with Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Blake wore an Atelier Versace gown that was inspired by New York City. As she told The Cut, "Instead of looking to fashion to influence the dress, I looked to New York City architecture. This is the constellation from Grand Central Terminal; this is the Empire State Building; this is the Statue of Liberty. The crown has seven tiers—the Statue of Liberty has seven rays representing the sun's rays—and the seven continents. It also has 25 windows, so Lorraine put in 25 stones."
They also attended in 2014, which marked their Met Gala debut as a couple:
And here they are in 2017:
Fingers x'd they show up again in 2026 because Blake is never not bringing it.
