Quick lore check: Serene was on The Bachelor Season 26 and Brendan was on The Bachelorette Season 16. Then they both went on Bachelor in Paradise (different seasons!) and ended up in relationships...whichhhh didn't work out. Cut to Serene and Brendan surprise-launching their relationship on Instagram yesterday (March 19).
Emphasis on "surprise" because Bachelor Nation—a society of professional sleuths—did not see this coming. As one fan put it, "Ummmmm listen. This made me absolutely gasp."
Meanwhile, Brendan's ex Pieper James seems to have thoughts. As a reminder, she and Brendan dated for two full years after Paradise, though they were rumors of a split in 2021, when a source told E! News "The backlash from the show was too hard on both of them. They decided to split and focus on themselves. Pieper thinks it's best for her to spend time reevaluating her life. She thinks this is a good life lesson, but wants to move on."
However, they stayed strong until October 2023, when Pieper seemingly confirmed their breakip in a TikTok captioned “When they say ‘go to hell’ but I’m still recovering from the whiplash my last relationship caused me.”
And now it looks like Pieper has something to say because she hopped on Instagram after Brendan and Serene debuted their ship, writing “Guess it’s time for a story time,” alongside some side-eyes.
