Normani is officially engaged and entering her WAG era. Her fiancé, NFL wide receiver DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf, announced their engagement during a press conference on March 13 when he got traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister’s spring break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring,” he revealed while speaking to reporters. The athlete dished that he proposed to his “beautiful fiancée” the day before the trade, on March 12. He beamed as he told Normani, who was in attendance at the press conference, “Hold that rock up, baby.”
Speaking of her sparkler, there aren’t many close-up pics out there just yet. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers Instagram account posted a carousel of photos, featuring two of the happy couple. If you look closely, you can catch a glimpse of Normani’s gorgeous ring—and Cosmopolitan has details on it thanks to Laura Taylor, a jeweler specializing in engagement and wedding rings at Lorel Diamonds.
“Normani’s engagement ring is a classic design featuring a large center stone, likely a pear or oval-cut diamond, set on a platinum band,” Laura says in a statement to Cosmo. “The diamond is very prominent from the side view, which suggests a high-carat weight, possibly in the 6 to 8 carat range. It is held in place with a prong setting which is designed to make sure it captures your attention.”
The jeweler adds, “The band itself seems to have an extra sparkle in the photo, which makes me think it features a pavé or channel-set design. This is where diamonds are set into the band for added brilliance without taking attention away from the center stone.”
Because of the sparkle, clarity, size, and carat weight, Laura estimates that Normani’s engagement “could be valued anywhere from $300,000 to $500,000.”
The “Motivation” hitmaker and DK’s relationship has been relatively low-key, but their engagement comes after they went public with their romance in July 2023. Congrats are in order for the happy couple!
