Kieran Culkin might shocked viewers when he told the whole world at the Oscars that he wanted to have two more kids, but his wife Jazz Charton doesn't seem too phased by his public request. In fact, Jazz reacted to Kieran's Oscar speech on Instagram, joking that these “empty baby pacts” were actually motivational tools all along.

Kieran delivered one of the most unexpected speeches of the night when he won the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in A Real Pain. After his initial thanks, the actor held the orchestra off so that he could tell a story about his wife.

Recounting his 2024 Emmys speech, in which he reminded her that she said she would have another child if he won the Emmy, Kieran revealed that after that show, Jazz had actually agreed to a new pact. “She said, ‘I will give you four [kids] when you win an Oscar,’” he said, much to the delight of the crowd. “I held my hand out, she shook it, and I have not brought it up until now,” he continued, adding “No pressure.” Sure, no pressure, just the entire world knowing your business. NBD.

If you think Kieran crossed a line with his speech, just know that Jazz herself doesn't seem bothered. She congratulated her husband on his win with an Instagram post shared Tuesday, writing in part, “Okay okay hear me out—making empty baby pacts may seem foolish but it's clearly been a great motivator.” Clearly, this was not a binding contract between the couple, who share two children, Kinsey Sioux, 5, and Wilder Wolf, 3. She even joked about her genius motivational manipulation, taking credit for his win. “Would he have come this far if I hadn't kept promising him more kids if he won awards? ... Probably. But who's to say?” she wrote. IMO, she deserves all the credit. Or at least half of it.

I don't know if there are more children in Kieran and Jazz's future—though based on her emphatic “No” at the Oscars when he asked if they should “get cracking on those kids,” I'm guessing not. But I think it's safe to say that there are more awards and acceptance speeches ahead—and perhaps more baby pacts too.
