Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater may not have walked the Oscars red carpet together, but they did pack on some PDA during the ceremony inside the Dolby Theater. The couple keeps their relationship pretty under wraps for the most part, so seeing them embrace and chat throughout the night was truly so sweet.

Before the Oscars started, the pair spoke to outlets separately. Ethan was asked how “his girl” was feeling, to which he replied, “Oh, you mean Ariana? She’s doing great, she’s so excited.”

He even fully gushed about Ari and their Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo ahead of their stunning opening performance while talking to Entertainment Tonight.

“The one thing that I will say is to see these two women perform live is—anybody who’s been to any of their concerts—which a lot of people have been to both of their concerts, but they know those two can deliver in a way that nobody else can,” he told the outlet. “And so, I’m really excited.”

After hearing his “sweet” words, Ari told Extra, “His support has been such a gift” throughout their journey bringing the beloved Broadway musical to the big screen.

ICYMI, Ariana took the stage to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. Hardcore Arianators know that it was an extremely full-circle moment for the Grammy winner, who used to cover the track as a teen. Then Cynthia sang Diana Ross’s “Home” from The Wiz before their voices blended beautifully for a performance of “Defying Gravity.”
