Fresh from winning the Best Actress award at the BAFTAs a couple of weeks ago, Mikey Madison, the lead in Anora, just walked away with her first Oscar win at the 97th Academy Awards, and we've got her acceptance speech in full.

During last night's ceremony Mikey was presented with the award for Best Actress, having won against fellow nominees Demi Moore, Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Fernanda Torres.

Mikey headed onto stage and accepted the award from last year's recipient Emma Stone. Mikey went onto read her acceptance speech from a piece of paper, and as well as thanking the team involved in the creation of Anora, she also thanked the sex worker community.

Read her speech in full here:

"Wow this is very surreal. Forgive me I'm nervous I'm going to read off a paper. Thank you so much to the Academy, I grew up in Los Angeles but Hollywood always felt so far away from me so to be here standing in this room today is really incredible.
"Thank you Neon, FilmNation, and Universal, thank you to my incredible family, my mum, and my dad and my sister, and my little brother, and my twin brother Miles, thank you for being my best friend not that you have a choice.
"Thank you Brighton Beach for lending us your beautiful backdrop, and incredible community. Also thank you to Kennedy Schneider, thank you to our incredible consultants. I also just want to again recognize and honor the sex worker community. I will continue to support and be an ally.
"All of the incredible people, the women I've had the privilege of meeting from that community has been one of the highlights of this entire incredible experience.
"I also just want to recognize the thoughtful intelligent beautiful breathtaking work of my fellow nominees. I'm honored to be recognized alongside all of you. This is a dream come true, I'm probably going to wake up tomorrow. Thank you so much Sean, I adore you. This is all because of you, thank you."

Her speech last night echoes a similar statement she made at the BAFTAs on 16 February, where she won Best Actress and thanked the sex worker community then too.

In that speech she said: "I just want to say that I see you. You deserve respect and human decency. I will always be a friend and an ally, and I implore others to do the same.”

But what did actual sex workers make of the moment? Read our report here.
