Jessica Simpson is gearing up for the release of new music for the first time in over a decade, and she's doing it with a surprising source of support. Just a few weeks after announcing her split from Eric Johnson, her husband of 10 years, Jessica revealed how she and Eric are doing.
Reflecting on romance and heartbreak while promoting her upcoming single, "Use My Heart Against Me," the singer told People, "Maybe I'm just meant to love a lot of people in my life." She continued, "I don't know why my heart gets tossed around, but I'm one of the lucky ones. At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He's still very much a part of my life and will always be."
Jessica and Eric share three children—Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie—so it's nice to hear that they are still supporting each other, even if they're not together anymore, (and especially as she prepares to relaunch her music career!).
Jessica's new EP, Nashville Canyon, Part 1, will be released on March 21, with her first single dropping Friday, February 21. Teasing her new release, she told People that "Use My Heart Against Me" was a "sexy song to write." She continued, "It's kind of craving someone that you want again and you don't care if your heart is used against you—if it's just for one night. Like, give it over, just for the experience again."
