Another day, another royal family Christmas update for everyone to read into. On top of rumors that Prince William and Kate Middleton are hosting a "rival" Christmas in competition with King Charles (we'll get to that in a moment, pls hold), People reports that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are skipping the family celebrations in Sandringham for the first time in forever.

According to the outlet, the royal sisters are spending the holiday with "their respective in-laws." In Beatrice's case, that'd be the family of her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi (they're currently expecting their second child together, FYI), and in Eugenie's case, that'd be the family of her husband Jack Brooksbank. The sisters have spent almost every Christmas with the royal family since they were children, and this will be the first they've missed the occasion since their marriages.

Circling back to that aforementioned William and Kate drama real quick, the Daily Beast reported that they plan to hold a "rival" more "middle class" (feel free to take a second to lol) Christmas party in what's being described as a "coup" against Charles.

A friend of the couple said, “Kate has always found the presents on Christmas Eve thing weird. It is definitely going to be got rid of when they are officially running things. I imagine it will continue this year at Sandringham in some shape or form but everything is going to be much more relaxed and have a middle-class flavor at Anmer Hall. You can bet your bottom dollar they will be doing proper presents for each other and the kids there on Christmas Day.”

They added that there's “always been a slightly covert, rival Christmas party at [William and Kate's] house, but it’s going to be much more obvious this year. If they post pictures, it’ll be an official coup attempt.”

Someone inform the writers of The Crown, this is grounds for a sequel.
