Hello to everyone whose entire personality is all things Wicked: We need to discuss Dorothy Gale. Specifically, how (and if!) the iconic Wizard of Oz character will show up in Wicked: For Good.

Audiences got a small glimpse at Dorothy walking up the yellow brick road with the Tin Man, the Lion, and the Scarecrow during the opening moments of Wicked (and she was featured in the below teaser trailer)—but she has a much larger presence in part two.

As anyone who's seen The Wizard of Oz knows, Dorothy is responsible for “melting” the Wicked Witch of the West, aka Elphaba. But will we actually see her? And if so, whomst has been cast to play her?

Director Jon M. Chu previously spoke to Variety about Dorothy's presence in the first film, saying, “The Wizard of Oz is potentially a dream. It’s a world where there are no real stakes. Knowing that Elphaba and Glinda live in a world of real stakes, we had to reestablish with the audience that this was real. So we dropped everyone into the crime scene, maybe the most famous crime scene ever in cinema and literature, of the iconic hat in the puddle.”

He continued, “There are all these little clues before we see the full landscape of Oz. It’s this living, breathing place with real cultures, so we immediately establish this is not a dream world. After we go somewhere over the rainbow, we see that those four iconic characters exist in this real world. And we will revisit those characters in movie two.”

As for how much of Dorothy you'll actually see, Chu recently confirmed to People that audiences won't actually ever see her face. “I didn’t want to step on who you think Dorothy is in whatever story that you came into this with,” he explained. “She’s probably more in this story than in the show and yet not taking over the story—it is still Elphaba and Glinda’s journey, and she is a pawn in the middle of all of it.”

Basically, the sequel is where Wicked and The Wizard of Oz intersect—and Chu hopes you're ready for it. “I love that these two worlds get to collide in this movie,” he added. “It’s the thing that we’ve all been waiting for.”
