If you tuned into the 2024 VMAs exclusively for Sabrina Carpenter’s performance due to being in denial about summer being over, gather round. Sabrina—who was nominated for seven awards tonight—hopped on a shimmery...then alien-inspired...then extremely neon stage and blessed us with a medley of “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso.” We! Are! Not! Worthy!

ICYMI, Sabrina opened up about “Espresso” to W Mag earlier this month, saying she wrote it...while drinking actual espresso in France (chic). “I was in a ghost town that had one little creperie down the road,” she recalled. “I had my shot of espresso, and then I might have had some champagne, and before I knew it the song was written...I definitely hear it now in every car I get into, and being on the radio, to me, is still—it’s like fate. You have to be at the right place at the right time.”
She also chatted about the video, saying, “My favorite bathing suit was the black one-piece on the surfboard. I did that video because I thought the clock was ticking on how much longer I had to do my beach music video. To me, ‘Espresso’ sounded like when you turn on a vintage radio at the beach. And I did want to make it a little bit ridiculous, because that’s up my alley.”
Mission accomplished, ready for Sabrina Fall (whatever that looks like, tbd).
