If you're currently in a panic wondering if you missed Beyoncé at the 2024 MTV VMAs, good news! You didn't! (Actually, sad news, TBH.)
Despite not releasing any music videos this year, Queen Bey was actually nominated for Song of the Year for "Texas Hold 'Em" alongside Jack Harlow for "Lovin on Me," Kendrick Lamar for "Not Like Us," Sabrina Carpenter for "Espresso," Taylor Swift feat. Post Malone for "Fortnight," and Teddy Swims for "Lose Control."
She also happens to hold the record for the most VMA wins in history, because of course she does. But in a recent interview with GQ, Beyoncé said that if fans are holding out hope for any new music vids from her, they'll have to keep waiting. "The music needed space to breathe on its own. Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music," Bey said.
"The years of hard work and detail put into an album that takes over four years! The music is enough. The fans from all over the world became the visual. We all got the visual on tour. We then got more visuals from my film." Sorry, Hive.
She also nabbed a nomination for Most Iconic Performance thanks to "Love on Top" back in 2011, and it's a stacked category. Other nominees include Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Missy Elliott for 2003's “Like a Virgin” & “Hollywood;” Eminem for 2000's “The Real Slim Shady” & “The Way I Am;” Katy Perry for 2013's "Roar;" Lady Gaga for 2009's "Paparazzi;" Madonna for 1984's "Like a Virgin;" and Taylor Swift for "You Belong With Me" in 2009.
Honestly, don't know how there's a world where Bey doesn't win this considering "Love on Top" is the performance where she revealed her pregnancy!
