Jennifer Lopez spent her second wedding anniversary at the L.A. County Superior Court, where she filed divorce papers ending her marriage to Ben Affleck. And in a kinda shocking twist, TMZ reports that she filed them “pro per,” meaning “by herself and without an attorney.”
So what was Ben Affleck up to while his wife was taking the first steps in ending their two-year marriage? According to E! News (and photo evidence), the actor was flying back from Connecticut, where he dropped off his daughter Violet Affleck at Yale University alongside his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The family was photographed disembarking their plane after landing in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 20, and Ben was also seen leaving his office in L.A.
Ahead of J.Lo’s filing, a source told People that her ex had “been very focused on getting Violet ready for move-in,” which is “of course, a huge deal for the whole family, and they’ve all been so excited the last few weeks.” For what it’s worth, J.Lo is also close to Violet, who actually visited her stepmom in the Hamptons this summer amid the singer’s lengthy estrangement from Ben.
FYI, an insider previously told Entertainment Tonight that J.Lo and Violet “have gotten close throughout Jen and Ben’s relationship, and maintaining that closeness is important to everyone.”
“Ben certainly doesn’t want to cause any strain between Jen and Violet, and he is in support of them spending time together,” they added. “It’s a little tricky for him, but both Jen and Ben want all their kids to be happy, regardless of the issues they are facing in their marriage.”
