Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are understood to have privately reached out to Kate Middleton and Prince William following the Princess of Wales’s Friday (March 22) announcement that she’s been diagnosed with cancer.

In the wake of the sad news, People and Entertainment Tonight are reporting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since reached out to Kate, while the duo’s spokesperson released the following statement: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

Prior to Kate’s announcement, People spoke to a “family source,” who said that Meghan and Harry were “aware of everything that goes on back in England but are being left out of any details regarding Kate. There is clearly no trust.”

Meanwhile, an insider close to the royals added this tidbit at the time: “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad.”

Kate announced the news of her diagnosis on March 22 via a prerecorded video and said, in part, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The Princess of Wales then added that it’s taken her and Prince William “time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.” “As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits,” she continued.

Wishing Kate all of the best in her recovery.
