Hello and welcome to the ongoing Kate Middleton photoshop saga!
To get us all on the same page before we dive in: Yesterday, the palace released the below photo of Kate and her kids. Cute! Nothing to see here! <--- Is presumably what Kensington Palace thought to themselves when they uploaded this image.
Turns out, though, it's full of photoshop errors that people clocked almost immediately.
Multiple photo agencies ended up pulling the image (an Associated Press spokesperson noted that it "shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand"), and now Kate herself has issued an apology.
"Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," the Princess of Wales wrote. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."
So, wherein are said photoshop fails? The most egregious example, as the AP notes, is Princess Charlotte's arm—a portion of which appears to be missing:
On top of this, the Telegraph reports that "a tree in the background appeared to have leaves in mid-March." Meanwhile, royal reporter Chris Ship notes that the pattern on Prince Louis' sweater seems askew and that the ground behind him appears to have tell-tale signs of editing.
The Daily Mail also points out that Kate's zipper is seemingly edited and that the edges in various parts of the photo are distorted.
As of now, the image hasn't been deleted from the Prince and Princess of Wales' social media accounts, but...stay tuned?
