Kelly Clarkson reflected on her time at the Grammys and took a moment to praise Miley Cyrus' performance of "Flowers"—specifically the part where she jokingly called out the audience for not singing along.
"Sometimes people can be too cool in that environment, so shoutout to Miley Cyrus for being on stage and being like 'Why ya'll acting like you don't know this song?'" Kelly said. "Because sometimes it gets stuffy in that environment and people are too cool to like engage, or have a good time, or let their guard down. And that was really, you know, whether you liked it or not, I thought it was hilarious."
Kelly added that Miley "got everybody on their feet and it kinda set the tone for everybody to have a good time, because that's what we're here for, to celebrate music. So that was really cool, that was funny, that was probably one of my favorite moments of the night."
Another fave, personally? When Miley shouted out winning her very first Grammy mid-performance and the entire audience screamed:
On top of thanking a ton of people in her speech on stage, Miley also devoted an entire Instagram post to her win, which she kicked off with "I had all the perfect things to say but none of them could come out in this moment of shock. I’m happy they didn’t… because (thankfully) prepared perfection just isn’t my story. Life is so much more exciting this way. 🦋 Thank you @mariahcarey for being so iconic. MCxMC4EVR."
