Remember the 2024 Golden Globes? Me neither due to it being literally 84 years ago (aka last month), but in case you forgot, lip readers were truly having a moment. Several moments, honestly, between Timothée Chalamet burping/whispering into Kylie Jenner’s mouth and Taylor Swift having an animated conversation with Selena Gomez.
And apparently, Taylor isn’t about to let the amateur lip readers of Twitter and TikTok do their thing again, because she showed up at the 2024 Grammys with a fan. Like, to cover her mouth whilst talking.
In case you missed the Golden Globes and/or have already blocked it out, fans were convinced that Selena told Taylor and Keleigh Sperry something about Timothée and Kylie Jenner. Specifically: “I asked for a picture with him and she said no.”
A source told People after this became a whole T-H-I-N-G that Selena “was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie” and “never even saw or spoke to them.” Oh, and Selena ended up hopping into the comments and clarifying what she and Taylor were chatting about, saying, “Nooooo, I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone’s business.”
ANYWAY, clearly it was all a lot. So much that we’re not sure we have the emotional bandwidth to go through another round of lip-reading confusion again at this time, so thank god for Taylor’s fan doing the work of keeping her conversations private.
