Sydney Sweeney might be having an entire moment right now, but when it comes to her dating life, the actor likes to keep things suuuuper low-key. For instance: You might not even realize that she’s been engaged to Jonathan Davino since 2022 (and that they’ve been dating since at least 2018!). And while we’d hoped to see these two tie the knot this year (their nuptials were reportedly scheduled for May 2025), a source for TMZ is now claiming that the wedding plans are “being pushed back because of the couple’s busy schedule.” Womp, womp. In the meantime, here’s what you should know about Sydney’s longtime beau.
Jonathan and Sydney were first spotted together over six years ago.
Jonathan was first linked to the actor back in September 2018 when they were photographed looking super in love at an Emmys party in Los Angeles.
Then, just one month later, they were spotted again at an InStyle and Kate Spade dinner shindig.
Paps have since scoped Sydney and Jonathan out on luxury vacations in Maui, sitting courtside at basketball games, and attending the Cannes Film Festival together—ya know, just normal couple things!
Most recently, they've been papped walking hand-in-hand all over New York City—which is a rarity, tbh.
And in January 2025, Sydney even posted a cute pic of herself and Jonathan kissing on IG—which is the first time he's ever appeared on her grid!
He's based in Chicago.
Sydney verrry sneakily confirmed Jonathan's home base in an interview with Elite Daily in December 2019. When asked what neighborhoods of Hollywood she’d like to live in, she actually cited Chicago as being one of the two places she can see herself settling down (the other being the Amalfi Coast, which, okay, same).
“I have a place [in Chicago],” she said in the interview. “It’s, like, my getaway place.” And by “place,” Sydney meant a whole house. Yep! Then, when asked who she knows in the Windy City, Sydney cheekily replied, “A friend.” Oop!
He and Sydney have collaborated together.
It's not totally clear what Jonathan does for a living—but apparently, he's not the pizzeria heir, as it's long been rumored. “He’s not a restaurateur,” Sydney said during a December 2023 interview with Glamour UK. “I have no idea where that came from. He’s also not the heir of a pizza company. He’s a business guy. He’s from Chicago. We’ve been watching [this narrative] for six years now and I’m like, ‘What the hell?’”
That said, in addition to being a “business guy,” Jonathan has served as a producer for Sydney's production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, most recently working on her movies Anyone But You and Immaculate. “Jonathan is my producing partner, so he helped put the whole thing together," she told Glamour UK. "It’s really great to work with someone who knows you so well, who fully supports your ideas, your vision and your voice… And it’s nice. I mean, who doesn’t want to be with their best friend all the time?”
He's pretty low-key.
TBH, this isn’t shocking at all because Sydney told us herself that she doesn’t “date people in the spotlight.” She continued, “I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest.”
That said, Jonathan’s normalness doesn’t mean he’s insecure about his famous fiancé’s accolades. “I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back,’” she explained. Love that for her!
Apparently, his proposal was “intimate.”
On March 2, 2022, People confirmed that Sydney and Jonathan were engaged just a few days after she was spotted with a ring on THAT finger while out and about with her beau in Los Angeles.
A source later told E! News, “Sydney is still on cloud nine over her recent engagement to Jonathan.” The insider went on: “It was a very intimate proposal, and she had no idea it was coming. They are really private about their relationship but are a great couple together.” The source also noted that Sydney isn’t rushing to the altar, mentioning that she wants a “long engagement” and is “really focused on work.”
Syd herself gave an update on wedding plans (or lack thereof) in December 2023 while chatting with Entertainment Tonight. "I am so busy working!" she said when asked about a wedding date. "I’m a workaholic and I love it, I love it."
Sydney has totally addressed those Glen Powell dating rumors.
During an August 2023 Variety interview, Syd talked about how she and her Anyone But You costar Glen Powell purposely leaned into dating rumors to promote their film. “That’s what people want!" she explained. "Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. We’re excited for the press tour, and I literally just left ADR with him. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”
She even joked about the rumors during her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live in March 2024. “That’s obviously not true,” she said of Glen affair rumors. “Me and my fiancé produced the movie together and he was there the entire shoot, and I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?”
And then, when the camera jokingly cut to the Glen rather than Jonathan, she added, “Yeah, no, that’s not my fiancé. He’s in my dressing room!”
