- Sasha and Malia Obama just gave their first public interview in Michelle Obama’s Netflix documentary, Becoming.
- Obviously, this is huge because they tend to stay out of the limelight!
As if we couldn’t be any more blessed with the sh*t ton of Netflix releases lately (thank you, television gods), we’re about to get another gem from their vault. Michelle Obama’s getting ready to release the documentary that accompanies her book, Becoming, this Friday, and surprise—Sasha and Malia ended up giving their first public interview in the doc!
In a trailer, Michelle first reflected on having her two daughters in college. “Barack and I are empty nesters, and that has been exhilarating to watch the two little beings you were in charge of grow up,” she said. “I’m excited for her to be proud of what she’s done,” Sasha said (who, by the way, just wrapped up her freshman year at the University of Michigan). “Because I think that that’s the most important thing for a human to do, is be proud of themselves.”
Malia (a proud Harvard junior), added that their mother is “no longer facing that same scrutiny—being able to let all of that leave your mind creates so much more space.”
Whew, sorry—low-key having a moment when everything I know about these girls is being called into question, because last time I checked, they looked like this:
BRB, gonna be watching and rewatching this clip until Becoming is available to watch!
