Skin scents, cozy scents, warm scents… right now we all just want to smell comfy and luxe. As winter deepens, sexier, spicier notes tend to take the lead, but recently in the perfume world, there has been a significant surge in fragrances that lean towards the creamier side. We’re talking notes the industry calls lactonic and milky—milk accord, buttercream, heavy cream—the kind that feels like wrapping yourself in a cashmere blanket.

Not sure if creamy perfumes are your thing? Look at the scents you already love. If they lean sweet or musky, you’re probably primed for this fragrance family. If your go-tos are fresh and fruity, floral, or herbaceous, these might feel a little too warm or syrupy. Personally? I’m obsessed—and I keep at least three in rotation all autumn and winter to stay feeling cozy and snuggly. Shop my eight favorites, below:

The vibe: If you like a gourmand but aren't into anything too young and sweet, then this is your creamy spritz. For me, it evokes the feeling of a girls' night out. You feel hot, there are cupcakes and cocktails, and you're bar-hopping wrapped in your fave faux fur coat, staying cozy against the cold.

Key notes: Buttercream, Plum Butter, Toasted Almond, Iris, Sandalwood, Ambrette, and Ambrox

The vibe: If you don't like your perfume to enter the chat before you do, you will love this deeply personal scent from Commodity. If you aren't already familiar, the brand does three fragrance levels across their scents for how loud you want your perfume to be. This personal expression of the Milk scent is so light it wears like a sweet, warm second skin.

Key notes: Marshmallow, Tonka Bean, Mahogany Wood, Skin Musk, and White Cedar

The vibe: The 7 Virtues has whipped up the most creamy, sugary scent of the season with their latest launch. It genuinely smells like you have just stepped into a warm, cozy cake shop. Gourmands have a rep for not lasting well, but this scent hangs around for hours, and the lasting note of tonka bean is beautifully warm and decadent.

Key notes: Buttercream icing, maple caramel crème, whipped vanilla, and tonka bean

The vibe: This unique scent is a firm favorite among Cosmo beauty editors. It's really sweet–like a strawberry milkshake—but without any sour aftertaste. It's perfect if you're a fruity fragrance fan and want to dip your toe into the creamier side of gourmands.

Key notes: Wild strawberry, whipped cream, and vanilla

The vibe: Phlur just knows how to create gorgeously wearable body mists that manage to be chic but sweet, and Heavy Cream is no exception. It balances the sweet playfulness of vanilla and marshmallow with grown-up notes of lemon and jasmine for an indulgent, cozy concoction. My favorite way to layer is with Glossier You Revé for a sexy, creamy date night scent.

Key notes: Lemon sugar, marshmallow and orange, vegan ambrettolide, jasmine blossom, coconut cream, vanilla mousse, salted caramel, and whipped cream

The vibe: This scent only dropped on our desks this week, and we are already huge fans. The entire Freedom collection is lovely, but this creamy, chocolatey scent is a standout. It manages to be incredibly milky, creamy, and sweet while still having a grown-up and sexy base.

Key notes: Mandarin, spiced cinnamon, pink pepper, café latte, and lavender

The vibe: Despite having 'milk' in the name, this is the only fragrance on the list that actually has no milk or cream notes. It contains just a handful of notes that work as amplifiers for other scents, so if you layer this with another creamy scent, it'll create something completely signature. If worn alone, it's a beautiful, creamy, musky skin scent, with the amber and musk notes giving a grown-up and sexy effect.

Key notes: Bergamot, a heart note of white musk, and a base note of amber.

The vibe: Coffee lovers unite. This scent evokes the feeling of a steaming hot cup of coffee in a warm café. The lavender and spearmint do cut through the creaminess, so it's not too cloying. This is also a great unisex pick, too.

Key notes: Vanilla, musk, coffee, spearmint, and lavender
