One thing about me: If it doesn't have good pockets, I don't want it. It's a total deal-breaker for me when it comes to bags, jackets, jeans, and luggage—but especially leggings. I'm just a gal who likes to have all my stuff when I'm on the go! But since I wear leggings for both workouts and errands (that's basically almost every day), they must be able to hold the essentials like my keys, phone, and wallet. My personal hell is carrying everything by hand or having to shove my ginormous iPhone into the waistband of my compression leggings (ow), especially when I'm at the gym or on a Hot Girl Walk in Central Park. Anybody else?

So, I made it my mission to find the best leggings with pockets the internet has to offer. Along with four other Cosmo editors, I tested leggings from cult-favorite brands like lululemon, Beyond Yoga, Athleta, Nike, and more to see if they could do the job. In addition to ensuring the pockets could securely hold our valuables, we evaluated fabric quality, stretch, sweat-wicking capabilities (IMPORTANT), and overall comfort. No matter the style, leggings should feel like second skin! Here’s a quick peek at some of our faves.

Our top picks for the best leggings with pockets in 2025:

Without further ado, below, you'll find a list of a variety of styles—from high-waisted leggings with pockets to flared leggings with pockets—you can wear to exercise, to work (depending on your office vibes, of course), or to lounge in. Each of these has the Cosmo stamp of approval, so you know they're good!

Pros

  • Breathable
  • Available in four different lengths

  • Fabric pills quickly

Lululemon has earned its reputation as a fan-favorite for leggings—it has truly perfected the formula, and these are no exception. These are the brand's viral Align leggings (known for being buttery soft, smooth, stretchy, and sweat-wicking) but with built-in pockets so you can have your valuables close to you. These leggings can easily transition beyond the yoga studio, styled with a cozy knit sweater or a baby tee and paired with loafers for a chic, casual look.

I've been wearing lululemon leggings since I was 17 (I'm 28 now!), and every time I try a new style, I'm always blown away by the quality. It feels like experiencing the brand for the first time all over again! I did my usual 12-3-30 routine in these (shout-out to Lauren Giraldo), and even after working up a sweat, I never felt damp or like my sweat was sticking to me. I also love how the fabric is both flexible and sculpting to my shape. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised by how stretchy the pockets are—each one easily fit my cardholder and my chunky keyring of keys.

    Pros

    • Wear-tested by the brand's in-house team
    • UV Protection

    Cons

    • Some customers say it's a bit see-through

Besides the fact that these come with deep side pockets that can fit a whole dang smartphone and then some, the Spacedye fabric is the icing on the cake. (Real ones know about Beyond Yoga's Spacedye fabric!) It's so soft against the skin and legitimately feels one with you. And the five-inch waistband provides tons of support and keeps everything in place without digging in or rolling down. Ideal for Pilates, according to tons of enthusiastic customers, these are about to be your new favorite. All this and you don't have to bring a bag for your small necessities if you don't want to? Tens all-around!

"I am the biggest fan of Beyond Yoga's leggings (and basically everything they make) because their fabric is buttery soft and fits me like a glove," says Beauty Editor Beth Gillette. "But! I had somehow never tried any of their leggings with pockets until these. And now I fear I need to get every color??? Wearing these at the gym was so helpful to hold my phone, Airpods case, keys—whatever—while I worked out. These are not made for extremely high-impact workouts where you'll be sweating buckets (the fabric just isn't sweat-wicking like that), but I find it great for my usual weight-lifting, walking, stretching, yoga, pilates, barre kinda days."

    Pros

    • Tons of colorway options
    • Sits on the waist without moving

    Cons

    • Too long for petite people

If you're looking for leggings that move with you during any activity, I recommend these from Nike. They’re midweight, meaning the fabric is perfectly balanced—not too thin or too thick—making them durable with great compression for high-intensity exercises. They also offer a full range of motion and wick away sweat. Plus, the thicker fabric provides insulation in cooler environments without getting too hot. And the side pockets are perfect for holding essentials like your phone, keys, and wallet.

"I think these might be my new favorite leggings," says Associate Commerce Editor Lauren Gruber. "The fabric is soft and stretchy yet compressive, and is durable for high-impact activities like running. Plus, it's completely squat-proof! The wide waistband is so flattering and stays up during my treadmill walks and weightlifting sessions but doesn't dig into my skin. I could totally see myself wearing these leggings for more chill workouts like yoga and Pilates as well. The pockets are nice and roomy and kept my phone and headphones in place during my workout."

    Pros

    • Cool-touch, 4-way stretch Power Magic fabric
    • Designed for cross-training activities

    Cons

    • Some customers say the butt-lifting design is uncomfortable

There's nothing better than leggings that feel like they were made for your body, and that's exactly how this style from Halara feels. Its UltraSculpt fabric contours to your shape, while the supportive high-waist band and sleek, compressive, sweat-wicking fabric enhance comfort and performance. And let's not forget the butt-lifting technology—the ruched seaming and lift bands hug the silhouette, giving your behind a naturally plump, lifted look. Plus, the pockets at each side make it so handy for when you wanna be hands-free or purseless.

My butt has never looked as good as it does in these leggings! I couldn't stop staring at it in the mirror—they make it look so full and plump! I will say, though, that they took a little getting used to (it felt almost like wearing a harness), especially during leg workouts. The pockets are roomy enough to hold essentials like keys, a cardholder wallet, and even an iPhone Pro Max—just as long as it’s not in a bulky case. But honestly, the best part is how they sit perfectly on my ankle. That’s a big deal when you’re under five feet tall!

    Pros

    • Comes in two inseam options
    • 365-day return policy

    Cons

    • Run a little small, according to some customers

These leggings with pockets from Quince are designed for low-impact workouts and everyday activities, and their five-star rating is well-deserved. From its anti-microbial, 4-way stretch fabric (that won't feel sticky even if you're a sweaty mess) to all three (!!) of its roomy pockets, you'll find yourself going back to these time and time again. I'd get them while they're 50% off if I were you... Ahem, maybe even two!

quince ultra soft high rise pocket legging
    Kim Duong

"I've tried countless leggings, and these stand out in all the right ways," says Deputy Shopping Director Kim Duong. "The fabric is so dang buttery soft and comfortable. It's thick enough to feel supportive, yet thin and flexible to keep up with those (rare) times I decide to do HIIT. But those massive side pockets are the real MVP feature. They fit my iPhone 16 Pro Max with room to spare! There's even a hidden pocket in the waistband for smaller essentials. And I love that the 4-way stretch moves with me, while the moisture-wicking, anti-microbial fabric keeps everything fresh."

    • Stretchy

    Cons

    • The waistband did roll down during intense movements

Adanola has already taken the UK by storm, and now it's making its way to the U.S. Let these incredibly cozy leggings be your introduction to the viral brand if you haven't tried them yet. They’re sculpting, smoothing, and compressive, so you can move from a gym session (they’re squat-proof!) to running errands to just straight-up lounging without feeling constricted. And just a heads-up: there are plenty of cute matching tops to go with these leggings, so be prepared to fill up your cart!

I could wax poetic about how much I 1. love Adanola and 2. am completely obsessed with these Ultimate Pocket leggings. They're so stylish and sleek that I felt like an off-duty model heading to a high-end Pilates class in LA. They also provide tons of comfort and support. During my mile-long walk in brisk weather, NYC weather, these leggings kept me warm and cozy and perfectly supported the entire time. As a petite gal (I'm 4'11''), the length is forgiving–which I was pleasantly surprised about! There's some extra fabric at my ankles, but it doesn't look bunched up. And I loved the option of just one pocket because it doesn't weigh me down or distract from the smooth design.

Where to even begin? From the smooth feel to the form-fitting shape, these moved with my body so effortlessly during walks and workouts. And the fact that the pockets fit my huge iPhone 15 Prox Max with the Rhode Lip Phone Case on is wild. It's too good to be true! They could also pass for more casual trousers (which means they can potentially pass for the office), so they work for all sorts of occasions. My one qualm is that I wish I sized up because they are on the tighter side, and the waistband does roll down when I sit or bend down.

"I'd wear these on an errand day more than for a workout," says Senior Lifestyle Editor Christen Johnson. "They feel like second skin and have a nice compression element to them, but for an intense workout, I think I'd feel like I was peeling sweaty things off of myself. Plus, the band also rolls down. The pockets are sleek, discreet, and deep enough for your whole phone to fit. In terms of sizing, the regular size is tall girl-friendly, especially for those pushing 6 feet. But if you're like me and 6'2 or higher, and want something that goes to your ankle, the tall size would probably be better (but you can get away with a regular and a crew sock to cover the little gap!)."

What to consider when shopping for leggings with pockets:

    cosmo line breaker
    Cosmoplitan

Choosing the best leggings with pockets isn't just about style—it’s also about functionality and comfort. Here are a few things to consider while shopping for the perfect pair...

    Material

The fabric of your leggings can make all the difference. What works for a sweaty workout might not be what you want to wear when you're just lounging and need something that feels as close to pajamas as possible.

For exercise, I recommend leggings made of nylon or polyester or those that have high elastane content, as they’re sweat-wicking, breathable, and dry quickly. But if you’re just looking for something to relax in, cotton is the way to go—it’s much softer and more comfortable for all-day wear.

I would also keep an eye out for key features like if they have a 4-way stretch, if they're moisture-wicking, or if they're made of a performance fabric. These will help you figure out exactly what you're looking for based on your needs and preferences.

    Pocket design

You might be surprised—not all pockets on leggings are the same. They come in various shapes and sizes. Most are located on the upper thigh or lower back. Some leggings feature two pockets (one on each side), a single pocket on one side, just a pocket on the back of the waistband, or even all three!

These pockets are usually designed to fit small essentials like your phone, keys, and wallet, so don’t get too ambitious and expect them to fit anything larger than that. It’s also worth considering the placement of the pockets. Do you need something small enough to keep your gym locker key in? A zippable waistband pocket may be enough. Or do you need a deep pocket that can house your iPhone while you listen to your favorite podcast while you’re out on a Hot Girl Walk?

    Sizing

You know your body best and what feels most comfortable for you, but keep in mind that leggings, with their snug fit, should never leave you feeling restricted.

At the end of the day, reading through customer reviews and looking for feedback on the fit and fabric can be incredibly helpful to get a better understanding of how the leggings might fit your body type and whether they run true to size, larger, or smaller than expected.

Additionally, some leggings come in height-based sizing with varying inseam lengths, providing a more tailored fit to your body. For reference, the average inseam is typically 31" while the inseams for petite is approximately 28" and for tall is 34".

What is the back pocket in leggings for?

    cosmo line breaker
    Cosmopolitan

Pockets on the back of the waistband are usually designed for storage of small items. It’s just big enough to hold slim essentials like a credit card, ID, chapstick, or a gym locker key. And, if it’s stretchy enough, it might even be able to hold your phone. Having it there (instead of on the side of your thighs) feels less intrusive while you're walking or exercising. Back pockets also usually come with a zipper to keep whatever you stashed away secure.
