The 65 Best Disney Channel Original Movies, Ranked

The only reason this movie isn’t ranked higher on our list is because the Even Stevens show is where it’s at, and while the movie’s good, nothing can compete with the OG.

I’ll obviously watch Frankie Muniz in anything but especially in this touching film (based on a true story!) about a young boy in a wheelchair who’s hell-bent on winning the Soap Box Derby.

This movie is about a young girl’s struggle to come to terms with her father’s career in the military, before the September 11 terrorist attacks make her realize just how important his work is. Not sure if Disney nailed the heavy subject, but it was a valiant effort.

Great news, we’ve officially entered the Christmas-themed portion of this list. And all the movies happen to be ranked together because they’re basically all equal(ly not that great). This one’s about two girls whose plan to make it snow in Los Angeles completely fails thanks to the fact that they’ve accidentally stolen Santa’s weather machine. I mean, that plot tho!

Then there’s ’Twas the Night, otherwise known as that movie Bryan Cranston probably regrets.

In the unlikely event you’re somehow sick of Halloweentown movies (how dare you), The Scream Team is weird enough to deserve a ranking on this list, mostly because it’s about two kids who join a “soul patrol” to free captured ghosts. Like, just when you think, You can’t make this sh*t up, someone literally does!

PSA: This sequel to Halloweentown (even more on that later) is a thing. Frankly, the more movies Disney can squeeze out of this franchise, the better, because there are only so many times in one month I can watch Hocus Pocus.

But also, Zenon’s follow-up (again, keep reading for the OG) is wild! Now it’s 2051, everyone’s even more into spandex than before, and moon aliens are a thing!

Genuinely, I’d love nothing more than finding out my mom was dating a sexy vampire, so I don’t see what the problem is here. That aside, this movie could take a ~bite~ out of my schedule of doing nothing any day (*laughs weakly*).

Welcome to the bowling league drama you never knew you needed and frankly probably don’t need, but ya know, might as well watch.

I truly do not even know how to begin to describe this one. Oh wait, I do know! It’s the same plot as every other movie: Rich kid has to work hard to save family business, learns lessons, and, in this case, chews on straw.

This movie is inspired by an IRL WNBA sister duo, the Burge sisters. Twins Heather and Heidi transfer to a fancy new high school and join their basketball team. The sisters's sibling rivalry hits an all-time high as they compete against each other for more time out on the floor and try to gain their new teammates' respect.

A 14-year-old desperate to train with the figure skating coach of her dreams winds up sneaking her way into the expensive private school by joining the ice hockey team on a scholarship. She gets off to a rough start with the new sport and the team. But as with a lot of sports movies the underdog always ends up on top. Yay sports!

Definitely not Disney's finest work, but it's one of the only Asian-American representation movies from the earlier aughts. Not a shining example of one, but it's Brenda Song kicking butt as a warrior Homecoming Queen. So we'll take it!

This is pretty much a typical band competition movie. But exactly two words makes this movie head and shoulders above the rest: Hayley. Kiyoko. She might not be the lead in the movie, but she was definitely a star.

Much like High School Musical's Troy Bolton, Eddie is a jock caught between his two talents. He's a baseball prodigy but also a great cook. And it just so happens that his team's playoff game is on the same day as a big cooking contest he's entered. So he's got to figure out how not to disappoint his team and still do what he loves.
