Ayo Edebiri never misses when it comes to fashion—but tonight, she surprised fans by skipping out on the 2025 Emmy Awards. It’s unclear why Ayo is a no-show tonight, although she’s currently hard at work promoting her upcoming film, After the Hunt, so it’s possible the press tour kept her from attending.
Side note: If you haven’t seen Ayo’s look from the Venice Film Festival yet, she looked stuuuunning.
Ayo is nominated for two awards tonight: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series thanks to her work on The Bear episode “Napkins.” Her fellow nominees in the acting category? Uzo Aduba for The Residence, Kristen Bell for Nobody Wants This, Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, and Jean Smart for Hacks.
Ayo spoke about directing The Bear to IndieWire, saying, “You have to have a certain amount of ego and a certain amount of assuredness in your decisions, but there needs to be space for collaboration and to also be wrong or to not have the answer and to really be able to let someone else have the knowledge and the awareness. It’s this really miraculous amount of collaboration with everybody, everybody having a reason for their question or for their thought, because of their vantage point and where they’re at.”
