Drama? On Dancing With the Stars? Groundbreaking.
Between Hilaria Baldwin’s claim that she was “bullied” off the show and rumors that some pro dancers will walk away from the reality competition series next season, more drama has unfolded on the most recent episode of DWTS. This time, it surrounds one of the celeb contestants, Alix Earle.
During the October 28 episode, Alix and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, danced to Billie Eilish’s “bury a friend” for the Halloween-themed choreography. They received a final score of 39 as each judge—except for guest and former DWTS pro dancer, Cheryl Burke—granted them 10s. Cheryl was the only judge who gave them a lower number, which blocked them from receiving a perfect score.
Alix’s stepmom, Ashley Dupré, showed her support with a TikTok video the following night. “INSANE!!!! So proud of you!!!!” she captioned the clip, where she watched and cheered on her stepdaughter’s performance with her kids.
When Cheryl gave Alix a score of 9, Ashley aimed her appearance as she fired back at the TV. “Oh, go take more Ozempic!” she said, which prompted a confused reaction from her kids, who asked, “Go take more Ozempic?”
“What? She looks weird. Doesn’t even look like her,” Ashley said, doubling down on her dig.
Ashley’s comments come after the two-time DWTS winner’s transparency surrounding her health journey and body dysmorphia.
In May, Cheryl told People, “As a dancer, we were stuck in front of mirrors constantly, it was important to stay at a certain weight, and my dance coaches were really strict.”
She also weighed in on criticism surrounding her body image—specifically, speculation that she had relied on GLP-1 medications to help her lose weight.
“These are all assumptions that people have thrown at me, as far as Ozempic, my face,” she told the publication. “I've always had criticism, but what’s shocking is that this is worse than when I gained weight. These are really mean and cruel messages.”
Neither Alix nor Cheryl has responded to the clip since Ashley posted it.
