- Country singer Alexandra Kay weighs in on rumors that Keith Urban and Maggie Baugh are romantically involved in the wake of his split from Nicole Kidman.
- She claims that Maggie has a boyfriend and is not involved with Keith.
- Fans continue to look for clues about Keith’s relationship status in his performances.
In the wake of his sudden divorce from Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban has been the subject of rumor after rumor—many of them having to do with guitarist Maggie Baugh. Now Alexandra Kay, a close friend of Maggie’s, has entered the chat, denying that Maggie and Keith are romantically involved.
“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say,” she told Taste of Country when asked about her reaction to Keith and Nicole’s split. “They’re, like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I'm like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true.’”
Alexandra continued, insisting that not only is Maggie not involved with Keith—she’s taken. “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole relationship,” she said. “I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life. I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”
The nature of Maggie and Keith’s relationship first came under scrutiny soon after Keith and Nicole announced their split, when a source told TMZ that “all the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman.”
Soon after, footage from earlier this year emerged of Keith pointing to Maggie, his guitarist, during a performance of “Fighter,” a song originally written for Nicole. “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” he sang in another clip, switching up the lyrics. (The song originally goes, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.”)
Aware that his every move is under a microscope right now, Keith warned fans not to read into things too much. At a show on October 17, after Keith played “You’ll Think of Me” with a slightly altered lyric, he insisted that the lyric change was old and didn’t reflect anything going on with his personal life. “Stop reading shit into it,” he said per People.
