Ever since Olivia Rodrigo teased earlier this month that a new album is on the way, I’ve been completely locked in to anything the pop star does. Then she debuted the first single off of her new album "drop dead” live at Coachella Weekend Two during Addison Rae’s set. And in true Olivia fashion, she didn’t just sound incredible—she looked it too. Low-rise jeans, a little leather bra, and Mary Jane heels. But what caught my attention the most were her 2016-coded Ray-Ban sunglasses.
I couldn’t believe she was wearing the same style everyone and their mother was wearing 10 years ago. The boxy, square frames feel like such a throwback, and somehow Olivia made me fall completely back in love with them—which I was not prepared for. Now I’m fully obsessed with the idea that she’s bringing them back—and even better, that they’re actually still within a reasonable price range.
The accessory feels like a total pivot from the skinny, barely-covering-your-eyes sunglasses everyone’s been obsessing over for years. Instead, the silhouette goes in the complete opposite direction—bigger and exaggerated. It also lines up with the trend we’ve been seeing lately: Jennie Kim showed up at Weekend One of Coachella in oversized, glamorous frames, signaling a clear shift that larger designs are taking the spotlight.
Personally, I love how they have such strong energy while still feeling low-key. It’s giving incognito celebrity vibes. And the tint? I’m obsessed. They completely black out your eyes, which adds to that mysterious feel.
They’re currently still in stock on Ray-Ban’s site and Amazon! Couldn’t be easier to grab a pair and channel our girl’s ‘Chella look. Seriously though, I already know these are going to be everywhere this summer—so if you’ve been thinking about it, this is your sign to get them while you can.
