- Reports and social media accounts claim that Euphoria’s star and former executive producer, Zendaya, left the season 3 premiere after snapping photos on the red carpet.
- According to several outlets, Zendaya and the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, had a rumored rift after major production delays for season 3.
- Fan-captured footage reveals whether Zendaya actually dipped early from the premiere.
Euphoria Sundays are officially back for the first time since the season 2 finale aired in February 2022, and ahead of the season 3 premiere, fans got to see the cast reunite IRL at L.A.’s famous TCL Chinese Theatre on April 7. I’m talking Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, and, yes, even newbies like internet-turned-Broadway princess Trisha Paytas.
Oh, and of course, the show’s shining Emmy-winning star, Zendaya, arrived in a stunning Ashi Studio halter-neck gown:
While she made a big entrance, fans on social media started circulating rumors that Z made a quiet exit from the premiere after snapping a couple of photos on the carpet.
“Literally, it seems like she only showed up to snap photos for 10 minutes and then bounced,” one fan wrote before speculating, “I hope one day we find out what the hell went down between her and Sam Levinson.”
Another person chimed in, writing, “I love that Zendaya didn’t hide her discomfort at all—she showed up late, didn’t do any interviews, and left right after the premiere.”
However! Another fan who attended the premiere debunked the rumors altogether when she posted a TikTok showing photos of her with the cast—including Zendaya.
“We both left during the credits at the same time, but I think I was the only one she stopped to take a pic with,” TikTok user @veronotvero wrote in her caption, alongside a selfie with The Drama actor.
The initial speculation came after several reports that Zendaya and the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, were experiencing tension over major production delays for season 3. While Z served as an executive producer for the show’s first two seasons, she seemingly dropped her behind-the-scenes title for the upcoming season.
According to a 2024 report from The Hollywood Reporter, Z and Sam’s close friendship had “cooled” by the time early production on season 3 started. Per another insider, he “began to resent her…as she pulled away.” The outlet also claimed that Zendaya called HBO execs to ask why Sam was allowed to prioritize The Idol over Euphoria, which still didn’t have a script at the time.
Z declined to comment for THR’s story, so the rumored rift between her and Sam has never been confirmed or denied. But according to footage captured by Buzzfeed UK at the premiere, Zendaya seemingly avoided taking photos with Sam after exchanging a hug on the red carpet. Hmm…
That said, Zendaya did stick around for the show’s season 3 premiere, so it might be nothing but online chatter.
