Upon finding out Aubrey Plaza and her partner, Chris Abbott, are expecting their first baby together this fall, you were probably like, “Awww,” before you asked yourself, “Huh? Aubrey Plaza has a new man?” Yep, she does. And they apparently go way back!
Allow us to catch you up to speed: They first met while working on their comedy/thriller flick, Black Bear, back in 2020. They deepened their bond when they starred opposite each other in an off-Broadway stage production of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea nearly three years later. And, according to DeuxMoi, they’ve reportedly been dating since at least June 2025.
During the June 19 episode of the Deux/U podcast, the gossip guru read an anonymous tip from someone who’d reportedly spotted the couple at Chatham Berry Farm in upstate New York. The insider claimed that “the encounter did not necessarily seem platonic” as The White Lotus star “was rubbing his back, and they were sitting very close to each other at a picnic table.”
Deux’s source also dished that the pair were joined by Chris’s sister, singer Christina Abbott, and her two kids. According to their tip, it seemed like Aubrey “knew the singer” and “chatted her up” after a performance at the farm, which lines up with a social post the farm shared about Christina on June 19.
The source also shared that Aubrey, Chris, and Christina “had several rounds of drinks from the cider and ate dinner.”
While this isn’t exactly concrete evidence, DeuxMoi also received intel about Aubrey and Chris when they played Danny and Roberta in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in 2023.
She allegedly consoled Chris as he “hurt his knee” halfway through a live show. Per another DeuxMoi source, Aubrey “went into a different mode to take care of him and was very affectionate” and even skipped meeting fans at the stage door because “Chris [was] her main concern.” At the time, Aubrey was still married to her late husband, Jeff Baena, so it may have been a case of co-stars looking out for each other.
But now, congrats are in order for Aubrey and Chris as they look forward to welcoming their little one. On April 8, a source told People, “It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” adding that “they feel very blessed.”
