- Olivia Rodrigo confirmed the pink lock theory by sharing Instagram posts that tied the locks in L.A., London, Paris, and Hoboken to her upcoming album.
- The locks spell out “April 17th drop dead,” so now fans are speculating that the OR3 lead single is called “drop dead” and will arrive on April 17.
- Olivia first announced OR3, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, on April 2.
Attn, Livies: As it turns out, the lock theory was legit. At long last, Olivia Rodrigo confirmed in a series of Instagram posts on April 6 that those pink locks that have been popping up worldwide—in Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Hoboken—were, indeed, planted by Liv herself and have everything to do with her upcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. What’s more: Fans have finally figured out the message that revealed when the four locks are put together: April 17th drop dead.
And on April 7, Liv finally confirmed what fans had all but concluded: The first OR3 single will be called “drop dead” and is coming out on April 17.
As a reminder: Livies first spotted a heart-shaped padlock in London with what appeared to be Olivia’s new pink branding on March 15…as well as the word “april.”
Then the Hoboken lock reading “drop” was found on March 26:
Followed by a lock reading “17th” in Los Angeles on April 4:
Then, at last, fans discovered a lock reading “dead” on April 6 in Paris:
And ofc, this all comes amid the announcement for the album itself, which Olivia shared with fans on April 2. Her highly anticipated third studio album is coming out on June 12, though you can pre-order it (as well as two limited-edition vinyls for Target) now!
Back in October, Liv offered a lil love advice to fans during an interview with Cosmopolitan, saying, “You really have to be yourself from the very beginning of the relationship. Otherwise, it always comes to the surface and creates a conflict if you’re not 100 percent yourself.”
She added, “Back in the day, me and my friends would tailor our personalities to whatever person we liked at the time. It just never works out—it leaves everyone feeling confused and sad. Be wholly, entirely yourself, even if you think it’s a little cringe. The right person won’t think it’s cringe.”
You’ll never be cringe to me, Liv!!
