Manon Bannerman has broken her silence since her temporary hiatus from KATSEYE was announced in February.
The Grammy nominee shared an update through a new Weverse message on April 2, writing, “Thank you so much for all the love and support you've been sending my way. I’m really grateful for the patience and kindness everyone has shown during this time.”
Manon also seemed to put rumors of a permanent exit to rest—for now, anyway—as she revealed she is still in contact with HYBE and Geffen Records.
She continued, “HxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported. I'm happy and I'm healthy. I'll share more soon. Thank you for always being there for me.”
Her statement comes after KATSEYE teased their new upcoming single, “Pinky Up,” on April 2—and EYEKONS noticed that Manon was seemingly excluded from the clip shared across social media. She had also removed any mention of the group from her Instagram bio.
The group has performed at several music festivals as a quintet overseas, including Lollapalooza in Brazil and Chile.
Manon has been on a temporary hiatus from KATSEYE since February 20, when the group released an official statement.
“After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing,” the statement read, in part.
They added, “We fully support this decision. KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right. Thank you to our EYEKONS for your continued love, patience, and understanding.”
At the time, Manon reached out to fans herself with a Weverse message, writing, “I’m healthy, I’m okay, and I’m taking care of myself. Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again.”
Fans speculated that she might return to the group before their Coachella debut on April 10, but it’s unclear whether she’ll be back in time, if at all. We’ll be staying tuned for more updates from Geffen and HYBE.
