Before she was hitting red carpets and hosting her Better Half podcast with Stassie Karanikolaou, Victoria Villarroel worked as Kylie Jenner’s personal assistant from 2015 to 2020. On the most recent episode of her pod, she got into her personal lore and opened up about the moment she knew she had to quit working with King Kylie.
“We were in the kitchen and she was like, ‘Vic, I need my laptop, it’s upstairs,’ and I was like, ‘Oof, who’s gonna get that?’” she recalled on the March 19 episode. “I said something crazy like, ‘Oof, that seems far, I don’t want to go get your laptop.’”
She explained, “Obviously, me and Kylie had a working relationship, but you can’t not get so close with a person you see every single day. You know everything about them, you’re with them at all times—good or bad.”
When it “got to that point” for Victoria to pursue content creating full-time, she said she and Kylie looked at each other and knew their professional relationship was over.
“I remember being so nervous and thinking, ‘Am I making the right decision? What if I’m leaving the best job I could ever have?’” Vic shared, adding that she had people “in [her] ear” telling her she had a job that “people would die for.”
She then shared the makeup mogul’s reaction to the news at the time, saying, “She’s the most understanding person, she was like, ‘Oh my God, Vic, I want you to thrive, and I’m going to be here supporting you, and I love you so much.’”
It seemed to work out in the end, since Vic is still besties with Stassie and Kylie—and even pulled up to support The Kardashians star and celebrate the 10th anniversary of her beauty brand, Kylie Cosmetics, last year.
