- Doug Mason has released a statement following ABC’s cancellation of The Bachelorette.
- Doug reportedly won Taylor’s season, according to spoilers from Reality Steve.
- The contestant said he’s “sending out prayers to Taylor.”
Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette has been canceled, and now her winner, Doug Mason, is speaking out.
“Yo, good morning everybody,” Doug said. “In light of everything that’s happened, I’m just sending out prayers to Taylor because that was her moment and her moment was blocked. So all we can do right now is be hopeful. And I’m headed off to run to watch the sunrise. Hope you guys have a great day, let’s stay positive and show nothing but support for people in need. Cheers.”
In case you missed Reality Steve’s spoilers, Doug won Taylor’s season and they even got engaged—only to break up a month later during a trip he made to Utah. However, the pair did spend time together recently. The Sun got photos of Taylor and Doug arriving at the same location in L.A. on March 14, and wrote, “It’s believed the pair reunited to film additional scenes for The Bachelorette, perhaps to air at the very end of the season this spring.” This was obviously before the show was canceled.
FYI, several of Taylor’s other Bachelorette contestants have broken their silence on Instagram, and one just gave an anon interview to E! News about the show’s cancellation. “Part of me is just so fucking pissed,” they said. “We all gave up so much to go do this. We all came in with open hearts. We treated her kindly and respectfully and gave her a second chance.”
They added, “[We] tried to let her turn over a new leaf and we all believed her when she said she did. Obviously, the way she acted and the way she treated all of us in hindsight is just a waste of time, a waste of energy, a waste of emotional intelligence.”
ABC canceled Taylor’s season after TMZ released a video of a 2023 domestic incident between her and Dakota Mortensen. ABC’s spokesperson said in a statement, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
