Remember Cody Simpson? You know, the heartthrob who came up in the era of Justin Bieber with some bops of his own. If “All Day” didn’t take over your speakers back in the 2010s, then maybe you know Cody from his most recent journey as an Olympic-level swimmer. Or when he played Dmitry in the Broadway adaptation of Anastasia in 2018. Now, the Australian singer-songwriter is making his way back to his musical roots, based on his Instagram grid.

2011–2012: Kylie Jenner
Before Kylie Jenner was a billionaire makeup mogul dating Timothée Chalamet, she was the youngest Kar-Jenner on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. At the time, she constantly landed red carpet correspondent gigs for Ryan Seacrest in the 2010s with her sis, Kendall Jenner, which is how she met Cody. According to the musician, they exchanged numbers at the premiere for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Their romance eventually fizzled out, as Cody joked with E!, “The whole K-O-D-Y thing didn't really work out for me,” per Seventeen.
Cody also reflected on their relationship during a March 10 appearance on the We Need to Talk with Paul C. Brunson podcast, saying, “It was young. I took her to the movies or something, and we dated for about a year, and I think we just bonded through being in these unique situations. So it was nice. I think it’s just nice to relate to somebody at that age in that world.”
2013–2015: Gigi Hadid
It seemed like Cody had an affinity for reality stars during his teen years, since he reportedly moved on from his first girlfriend, Kylie, to literal supermodel Gigi Hadid. At the time, Gigi was hustling through the early days of her modeling career as she regularly appeared alongside her mom, Yolanda Hadid, on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Gigi first caught Cody’s eye when he saw pics from her first Guess campaign in 2013. Per the We Need to Talk with Paul C. Brunson podcast, he thought she was “the hot older girl.” One of their mutual friends slid Cody her number, and the rest was history.
He explained he had “cold-called” Gigi with a fake idea for a music video that didn’t exist.
“There was no music video. No plans for a video, the videos have all been shot, and this was like right around, I was doing my second album,” Cody dished. “I’m pretty sure I pitched her this whole concept that didn’t exist and she goes, ‘Yeah, okay.’ And I think that just broke the ice. So I started texting her and I’m like, ‘Ah I don’t think the video is going to happen anymore, but like, do you want to catch up? Do you want to go out for food or whatever?’ ”
Gigi—who Cody described as his “first love”—eventually starred in his music video for “Surfboard” in 2013.
They’d also go on to make their red carpet debut at Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party and serve in boho chic outfits at Coachella in 2015. This was the vibe, okay?

2019–2020: Miley Cyrus
Speaking of Miley, Cody fully manifested his relationship with her long before they dated during a 2012 interview with Fuse.
“Miley Cyrus has always been my childhood celebrity crush. I knew all the words to her songs, I’m not going to lie. I’m not ashamed about it at all,” he gushed.
Fast forward three years, and the pair had already become “best friends.” She even designed the cover art for his song, “Flower” (not to be confused with her song, “Flowers”) in 2015.
“Miley is one of my best friends, and she helps with some of that transitional stuff—trying to escape your childhood. She’s super open-minded, and I’m working on becoming more like that,” Cody said of Miley during a 2015 interview with GQ Australia.
In October 2019, they went from friends to lovers as Cody confirmed their romance with People during a Tiffany & Co. event. “We are very, very happy. She’s creative. She’s very passionate about what she does, and I’m very similar in that sense. That’s why we get along so well. We just have a ball, yeah, and that’s the most important part of a relationship, you know?” he said at the time.
The pair would go on to pack on the PDA on social media, get matching tattoos, dress in coordinating Halloween costumes, and quarantine together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They eventually called it quits after 10 months together in August 2020, and once Miley’s album Plastic Hearts dropped that November, fans theorized that her ballad “Angels Like You” was partly inspired by their romance.
Speculation was fueled further in December 2025, when Cody seemingly wrote a song about his relationship with Miley after she announced her engagement to Maxx Morando.
In March 2026, Cody told Paul C. Brunson that he will always be “grateful” for his relationship with Miley, as she helped him evolve and navigate his transition period from being a teen pop star.
“We were very much meant to be together at that time, we were both sober and in very different places to what, you know, we were when we were friends back in the day,” he said. “We were kind of exploring what we’d both just been through…I’ll always be grateful for that.”
2021–2025: Emma McKeon
Since Cody stepped back from singing to return to his roots and pursue a professional swimming career, he connected with Olympian Emma McKeon. Reports of a potential romance between the swimmers first surfaced in May 2022. According to The Daily Telegraph,Cody and Emma became close while training for the Commonwealth Games, aka the singer’s Australian swim team debut.
It wasn’t until July 2022 that the couple went Instagram official, when Cody posted a carousel of pics from their romantic vacay in Barcelona.
While much of their relationship remained relatively low-key, Cody and Emma would go on to do joint interviews together and talk about each other in the press on the reg.
By December 2023, he fully gushed about his athlete girlfriend during an interview with the Herald Sun (via Marie Claire Australia), saying, “Emma is a huge part of my life, and has been such a positive influence on me in terms of keeping me grounded since we met. She is a really calming presence, she has really helped me, and she just impresses me so much, she is such a wonderful person…Her humility is so impressive, and it makes me want to be more like that—to be more like her.”
Of course, they’d eventually attend high-profile events together in Australia and make their red carpet debut at the OMEGA House event during the Paris Olympics in 2024.
In February 2026, Cody’s little sister, Alli Simpson, revealed that they split up after four years together at the end of 2025. She told The Morning Show in Australia that Cody and Emma have both “moved on.”
Cody seems to look back on the relationship fondly, as he told Paul C. Brunson in March 2026, “Having Emma in my life to support me through my goals and vice versa—we were able to be that for each other and lift each other up. She is a special person.”
2026: Adelia Clark
According to pics obtained by the Daily Mail, the singer’s latest rumored romance is with influencer Adelia Clark, with whom he was spotted in L.A. on Sunday, March 8. Per the outlet, they “looked very comfortable in each other’s company” as Cody wrapped his arm around her—but they “quickly separated” once they realized paparazzi were nearby.
Neither Cody nor Adelia has weighed in on the nature of their relationship at this time.
