Who’s that guy?! It’s Max!
New Girl alum Max Greenfield is joining the cast of The White Lotus and it’s doing the one thing that Mike White’s surprise abs reveal on Survivor could never do: make me watch the show.
It’s not like he hasn’t been on TV recently. The actor has been starring in the CBS comedy series The Neighborhood for the last eight (yes, eight!) seasons and has made appearances in other shows like Running Point and American Horror Stories. But considering The White Lotus’s incredible track record of being an awards darling, it does feel like the first project that puts him close to winning that Emmy he deserved to get after playing Schmidt during New Girl’s seven season run.
Of course, this might mean a New Girl reunion is even further away, especially if he does take home a trophy. Jake Johnson has (jokingly) said multiple times that Lamorne Morris has an Emmy clause in his contract that keeps a reunion from happening. Now that he’s won one for Fargo critically acclaimed fifth season, he would never do a reboot or reunion of the show. Imagine if there are now two of them?!
There’s no word on what kind of character Max will be playing. As always, things are kept under wraps and until a lot closer to the show’s release, which likely won’t be until 2027. For all we know, it could be a Schmidt 2.0 situation. Or it could be something totally new and different that can surprise us, like a Tugg Romney type (IYKYK).
Oh, and there are other people joining the cast too! According to Deadline, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Charlie Hall and Jarrad Paul will also be heading to France to film the highly anticipated fourth season of the series.
Either way, I’m finally going to be tuning in, and I’m starting this Emmy campaign now to right some major wrongs in TV history.
