Experiencing acute Bridgerton withdrawal now that Season 4 has come and gone (too soon!)? Same, but it looks like Netflix miiiight treat us to another spin-off season, similar to 2023’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (which, as the name implies, told the story of a young Queen Charlotte and her romance with a young King George).
Bridgerton has a lot of characters worthy of spin-offs, but executive producer Shonda Rhimes was just asked for specifics and actually dished!
“I think definitely” she said on the Glass Half Full podcast (via E! News) when asked about another show. “That's an area that we're excited about and know that that could be really rich and really mined well.”
She added, “I’ve always said that I thought if we were going to do something like that, Violet would be a great person to tell the story about—the Bridgerton mom. Yeah, that's a possibility.”
Violet’s past story would definitely be a fun (but also sad) one to watch, due to the passionate romance she shared with her late husband Edmund Bridgerton. And there’s even source material! Bridgerton author Julia Quinn wrote a novella called Violet in Bloom, and said of the story “Readers clamored for me to write a happy ending for Violet, but I couldn’t. Truly, I couldn’t—I really don’t think I could write a hero good enough for her. But I, too, wanted to learn more about Violet, and it was a labor of love to write.”
