You’ve finished One Piece Season 2, become deeply attached to Tony Tony Chopper, developed an obsession with Smoker, and frankly need more of this show as a matter of urgency. So, now what? Time to dive into Season 3, that’s what! There are tons of updates on the show, including spoilers, new characters, and filming details, so let’s get into it.

Has One Piece Been Renewed?

YES! Netflix renewed the show back in August 2025 during the annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo.

When Is One Piece Season 2 Coming Out?

Unclear, but with production well underway, we shouldn’t have to wait nearly as long for Season 3 as we did for Season 2. Netflix, if you can hear me, I CANNOT GO ANOTHER THREE YEARS.

Has Filming on One Piece Season 2 Started?

Yup. Production on the third season began back in November, with filming taking place in Cape Town, South Africa.

Who’s in the One Piece Season 3 Cast?

For starters: all our favorites from Season 1 and Season 2! But the cast will also include some newcomers, including:

  • Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Acea
  • Cole Escola as Bon Clay
  • Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger
  • Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1

Meanwhile, Mikaela Hoover (Tony Tony Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefertari Cobra) are all being upped to series regulars.

What’s One Piece Season 3 About?

The show will likely kick off with the Straw Hats’ adventures on Arabasta Island, since that’s where they were heading at the end of Season 2. And while the arc probably won’t take up the entire series, it is a lengthy portion of the manga—so we could be looking at multiple episodes. The One Piece fandom site has a great summary of the Arabasta Arc, but some quick spoilers below for what happens:

  • The Straw Hats meet Mr. 2, aka Bon Clay, after they pull him onto their ship via fishing line, and discover he has the power to transform into other people.
  • Luffy reunites with Portgas D. Ace, aka Gol D. Roger's biological son—who Garp raised!
  • At the end of the arc (which naturally results in the Straw Hats defeating Sir Crocodile and civil war not ripping apart Arabasta), Vivi chooses to stay home. However, Miss All Sunday (aka Nico Robin) joins the Straw Hats.

Netflix

According to What’s On Netflix, 154 chapters of the 1,174 manga chapters have been adapted by the Netflix live action, which is just over 13%. So we have a loooong way to go. The story is divided into “Sagas” which are divided into “Arcs,” and right now we’re at the end of the Arabasta Saga (which ends with the Arabasta Arc, incoming next season). Netflix is averaging around one Saga per season, and we have many more left, including: Sky Island, Water 7, Thriller Bark, Summit War, Fish-Man Island, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island Saga, and Wano County.
