There were several twisty reveals in the final moments of One Piece season 2: for starters, we found out the identity of Baroque Works’ main man Mr. 0. His real name? Sir Crocodile, aka the absolutely infamous Warlord who’s on a mission to find the One Piece and is working with Miss All Sunday. Which brings us to our other reveal: Mr. 0 calls Miss All Sunday by her real name “Nico Robin,” and we see a bounty poster of her as a child with a pretty big price on her head.

Miss All Sunday didn’t exactly react well to Mr. 0 using her real name, which begs the question: WHO! IS! NICO! ROBIN! Settle in because she has a lot of lore—but keep in mind that spoilers are ahead.

She Was Born into a Family of Wanted Archeologists

Nico Robin’s mother was Nico Olvia, an archaeologist who studied the Poneglyphs—which is very much not allowed according to the Marines. Note: the One Piece fandom site describes the Poneglyphs as “large, mysterious, and apparently indestructible steles inscribed with historical knowledge in an ancient script,” which are “scattered” across various islands.

There’s a Huge Bounty on Her Head, Which Is Why She’s Hiding Her Identity

Since Nico is one of the only people left who can understand the Poneglyphs, she’s wanted by the World Government and the Marines—and has been since she was a kid and her home island was destroyed. This is also why she teamed up with Baroque Works: protection, not to mention the ability to freely study the Poneglyphs!

She Joins the Straw Hat Pirates

Nico joins the crew at the end of the Arabasta arc after hiding aboard their ship. Everyone’s pretty suspicious, but Luffy tends to see the best in people, so you can expect Nico to become a fixture on the show next season. After all, we’ll (more than likely) be kicking things off with the crew’s adventures in Arabasta!
