- Princess Eugenie has officially stepped down from her position at an anti-slavery charity.
- She served as a patron for the Anti-Slavery International Charity for the past seven years.
- Her exit comes after her father, Prince Andrew, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office when his name was revealed in the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Princess Eugenie has officially stepped down from her position at an anti-slavery charity amid her parents’ recent controversies.
“After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end. We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International. We hope that she continues to work to end slavery for good and deliver freedom for everyone,” the organization confirmed in a statement to The Observer on Saturday, March 7.
Eugenie’s departure comes after her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on his 66th birthday for suspicion of misconduct in public office. The former prince stepped down from public duties in 2019, after Virginia Giuffre alleged Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her to have sexual encounters with Andrew when she was 17. His name has since appeared in the Epstein Files as more pages are publicly released.
Eugenie’s mom, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, also shut down several of her companies after her emails with Epstein were called into question. According to People, Companies House received applications to remove Sarah’s companies, S. Phoenix Events Limited, Fergie’s Farm, La Luna Investments, Solamoon Limited, Philanthrepreneur Limited, and Planet Partners Productions Limited, from their register.
Just a day before Andrew’s arrest, Eugenie was reportedly on a family ski trip in Switzerland with her children on February 18, with a source telling Hello! that they were “surprised” to see Eugenie out and about.
“I was surprised to see her because I thought she would be keeping a low profile in light of everything that has been going on,” the source told the outlet, who added that Eugenie’s nanny and some friends also attended their outing.
A separate insider told The Telegraph that Eugenie and her sister Beatrice are “still reeling” from their parents’ scandal, adding, “It may be impossible for the royal family to move forward with any members of the York family attached to it. William and Catherine do not appear to have close ties with the sisters and would probably not miss them.”
