What does “happily ever after” look like for the time-traveling Fraser-MacKenzie clan, provided they even get the coveted HEA? The Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s romance novel series began all the way back in 2014, when only eight of her Outlander books had been published. The ninth, Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, came out in 2021. But the tenth and final book, titled A Blessing For A Warrior Going Out, has yet to be released. We’re in uncharted waters here, people!!

When did Outlander season 8 premiere?

The final season premiered on March 6, 2026 with “Soul of a Rebel.” The premiere saw Claire and Jamie return to Fraser’s Ridge with new knowledge about their daughter Faith and granddaughter Fanny. The season premiere checks in with all of the star-crossed lovers’ biological and chosen family too: Fergus and Marsali, William Ransom, Young Ian and Rachel, as well as (of course) Brianna and Roger.

As for how the show will end, even the cast doesn’t know. Sam Heughan told Cosmo during a 2024 set visit to Scotland that, "We're going to shoot various endings. I don't know which one they'll use.”

New episodes will drop weekly on Fridays on the Starz app at midnight and on the channel at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

How many episodes are there in Outlander season 8?

There are ten episodes total, which is fewer than season 7 but not as short as some seasons of Outlander have been in the past. Past seasons have ranged from 8 to sixteen episodes in length.

One of the nice things about this season is that it’s not split into two or more parts. No shade to the shows that do this, but it is so much nicer to have a weekly series for ten solid weeks. We’ll be in Outlander mode from the start of March to the beginning of May. The final ride is really going to feel like a journey that everyone is on together.
