One from the archives, this six-part drama stars Happy Valley’s Siobhan Finneran and Breaking Bad's Laura Fraser, who team up as detective duo Lauren and Annie. The pair find themselves tracking a serial killer—a nightmare neither of them wants to face. To heighten the tension, the series is set on the shores of Scotland’s Loch Ness, where a close-knit community is slowly torn apart as suspicion spreads to almost everyone. And the bond between the two detectives doesn’t exactly survive unscathed, either

You’ll know Chris Chibnall as the creator of Broadchurch, but he’s now turned his masterful touch to Agatha Christie’s 1929 murder mystery The Seven Dials Mystery. The story takes us to England in 1925, where a lavish country house party descends into chaos when a practical joke goes horribly - and murderously - wrong. Leading the stellar British cast are Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Caterham, Martin Freeman as Battle, and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen "Bundle" Brent.

An adaptation of Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name, this (very!) twisty series stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal as Anna Andrews and Jack Harper, estranged spouses linked by a shocking murder. Anna has retreated into a haunted, solitary life, drifting away from friends and her career as a news anchor, but when she overhears talk of the murder in Dahlonega, the sleepy North Georgia town where she grew up, she dives straight into the investigation. Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal), however, is understandably wary of her involvement. Brace yourself for a finale that will leave you seriously shocked.

The Bay

Where to watch: BritBox or Prime Video with the BritBox add-on

The Bay is the kind of series that pulls you in from the first episode, and luckily, a sixth installment is well on the way. A mix of Broadchurch and Shetland, the show follows DS Jenn Townsend (Marsha Thomason) as she tackles a string of crimes in the seaside town of Morecambe. Past cases have included the murder of a 23-year-old university student and several missing-person investigations, and season 6 is set to deliver plenty more twists and drama.

This clever 13-part series follows Alice (AnnaSophia Robb), Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Catherine (Aja Naomi King), and Brett (Ben Rappaport), all members of an affluent suburban garden club. But beneath the prim exterior lurks a dark secret: the group becomes entangled in a murder. When they’re forced to bury the body in their perfectly tended flowerbeds, their carefully curated lives start to unravel as they scramble to maintain appearances.

Where to watch: BritBox or Prime Video with the BritBox add-on

This clever series was such a hit with audiences last year that a second series is already on the way. From the director of Sharon Horgan’s megahit comedy Motherland, Timothy Spall stars as the "amateur" half of an unlikely crime-solving duo. His character, John Chapel, spent years starring in the fictional crime show Caesar—though he’s never actually solved a real case. Fortunately, his "other half," DS Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth), has plenty of experience. And while their partnership may seem unlikely, it could just be a match made in crime-solving heaven…

Annika

Where to watch: PBS or Prime Video with the PBS add-on

Based on the hit Radio 4 drama of the same name, this popular series introduces us to the brilliantly witty and enigmatic DI Annika Strandhed (Nicola Walker), who heads up the Marine Homicide Unit (MHU) in Scotland. The team's task? To investigate the many unexplainable—and unfathomable—murders that wash up in the Scottish waterways. Fantastically twisty and full of dry humor, it’s the sort of drama you can get lost in for hours.

Vanished

Where to watch: MGM+

What if your partner wasn’t the person you thought they were? That’s the brilliantly compelling theme of this MGM+ series, which revolves around a devastating couple’s trip. When Alice (Kaley Cuoco) embarks on a holiday to Paris with her partner, Tom (Sam Claflin), she’s expecting the perfect romantic getaway. But when Tom goes missing on board a train to the south of France, things take a terrifyingly sinister turn. If you’re a fan of impossibly twisty thrillers, you’ll love this one.

    Fool Me Once

    Where to watch: Netflix

When it comes to mystery series, Harlan Coben is a genius at producing them and Fool Me Once is a prime example. The plot follows a grief-stricken mother, Maya (Michelle Keegan), who’s coming to terms with the murder of her husband, Joe (Richard Armitage). Her grief turns to confusion, however, when she sees a man resembling her husband enter her house. Meanwhile, Maya's niece and nephew are trying to find the truth about their mother Claire Walker’s murder, examining the possibility that the two cases are connected. It won’t come as a surprise that the series involves a major twist, but the magnitude of this one is quite extraordinary. We’re warning you now, there's no way you'll see it coming.
