Spoilers for The Traitors season 4 ahead.
Maura Higgins was so close to winning The Traitors, just for her fellow contestant, Rob Rausch, to trick her and walk away with the cash prize instead. She’s taking it like a champ though, considering her history with men.
In a February 27 interview with Elite Daily, Maura explained that she’s dealing with the loss rather well because she’s never genuinely trusted men in the first place (relatable). “I don't trust men anyway. If I wasn’t used to that kind of guy, I reckon I would've been crying, storming out, never speaking to him again,” she told the outlet.
Maura’s mistrust of men has even trickled down her to sex life, and inspired to spend the past year celibate. “I've already got severe trust issues,” she added. “I've been cheated on by the majority of my exes—that's the reason I've been celibate for a whole year.”
Don’t think that our girl is holding any massive grudge against Rob—despite his betrayal, Maura insists that she and Rob are good, and that he even promised to buy her a pretty expensive gift, considering she helped him along the way to victory. As a refresher, in the season 4 finale, Rob convinced Maura that they were both Faithfuls, just for him to late come out as a Traitor and take the money home for himself.
“I wish I could bring ‘Maura Higgins energy’ and absolutely annihilate him, but I’m not angry,” she shared. “He felt bad at the final, and told me he would get me a present at the reunion. I said to him, ‘I will accept nothing less than a Birkin handbag.’ I deserve that. He wouldn’t have won without me.”
So, why isn’t Maura actually mad at Rob, considering he literally deceived her? “It’s not real life to me—he was chosen as a Traitor,” she told Us Weekly after the finale. “He’s not allowed to tell anyone, and he played an incredible game, so I can’t be mad at that. I can only be mad at myself for trusting the wrong person. He told me he’s going to get me a gift, which is going to be a Birkin handbag. So when he gets that, then he’s fully forgiven.”
