- Now, Kelsea is raising eyebrows by commenting on a post about “wandering eyes” and “hidden phones” in the wake of their split.
Kelsea Ballerini might be dropping hints about her most recent split with Chase Stokes. The “Cowboys Cry Too” hitmaker liked and commented on an Instagram post shared by fellow country singer Ashley Cooke, who was teasing a new song about her own relationship woes.
“Whiskey nights wandering eyes make messes / hiding phones ‘idks’ make questions / towns talk and the truth starts spreading / don’t you know crossing lines makes Xs,” she sang as she played the guitar.
And, though it was simple, Kelsea’s comment under the post was still pretty telling: “Mmmhhhmmm.” Ashley then responded, “You get it.”
Per Chase’s New Year’s Eve Instagram post, he and Kelsea reconciled at the top of the year after their messy breakup in September 2025. “Take accountability, learn from mistakes. Lean into love and say it often,” he wrote, in part, alongside a carousel of photos with the country singer.
Things still seemed good between Kelsea and Chase during her recent appearance at the Grammys. She admitted to Entertainment Tonight, “I love him so much. We’ve been together for quite a while now and done a lot of life together, and he was with me getting ready today, and he’ll be with me when we wrap. I love love, and I believe in it.”
However, the pair has reportedly split again after Kelsea hung out with Chase’s other ex, Madelyn Cline, after the Grammys. Both Kelsea and Madelyn appeared to unfollow Chase on social media after their hang. (Oh, to be a fly on the wall during that convo…)
On February 6, a source told Us Weekly, “Kelsea and Chase have broken up again. It happened just the other day,” adding that Kelsea had been “taking it better” than the last two times she and Chase called it quits.
The insider added that Chase “still isn’t ready to give up” on their romance while Kelsea seems to officially be “done” with him.
