Zigi—that’s Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid, for those of you who weren’t obsessively scrolling on one of Hollywood’s It couples in the 2010s—may be long gone, but the singer is making it clear that he still has love for the model. During an interview with Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper, Zayn doubled down on his previous claims that he had never “been in love” despite his romantic history with Gigi.

“You said in an interview that you don’t know if you’ve ever truly been in love. Do you still stand by that?” Alex asked, to which he responded, “Yeah, because my understanding of love is always developing. You know, at that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older, I realized maybe it wasn’t, you know, maybe it was lust. Maybe it was this, maybe it was that.”

The interview Alex is referring to is a 2024 conversation on The Zach Sang Show, where Zayn admitted, “I don’t know if I’ve actually truly been in love at this point. You look back at it with new eyes and you’re like, ‘Well, maybe I wasn’t in love there.’”

At the time, he continued, “Was it love or is it life experience that we are going through? Who knows. We’re just in situations where we look back at them with different eyes and it’s a completely different situation.”

Nearly two years later, the former One Direction member doubled down on the sentiment and clarified that while he felt he wasn’t “in love” with Gigi, he still loves her as the mother of their five-year-old daughter, Khai.

“I don’t feel like it was love, and to be fair, just to say this on record, I will always love G, ’cause she’s the reason my child is, you know, on this earth and I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her but I don’t know if I was ever in love with her,” he clarified.
