As the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks get ready to go head-to-head at Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8—you know, in between Bad Bunny’s historic Apple Music halftime show—fans can expect to see some familiar faces in the crowd, too. Among the WAGs will be Ann Michael Maye, aka the wife of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. She’s been supporting her man long before he made it to the big game. That being said! Now feels like a good time to introduce you to the first lady of New England.
Her name is Ann Michael, not Ann
First things first: her name isn’t just Ann. It’s Ann Michael.
“I don’t like people calling her Ann and she doesn’t like it either,” Drake clarified during a press conference.
She met Drake back in middle school
These two go way back. Ann Michael actually cheered for Drake on the football field when they were pre-teens in middle school, and they reportedly started dating when they were 12.
“Her watching my middle school football games playing quarterback to now getting a chance to watch me in the super bowl… I wouldn’t rather do it with anybody else,” Drake said in a press conference on February 2.
In May 2024, Ann Michael also shared a sweet throwback post on TikTok, set to Taylor Swift’s “So High School” (except, she corrected it to “So Middle School”). We can’t handle the cuteness!!
They went to the University of North Carolina
The couple kept their connection going well into college, when Drake played football at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021. According to her LinkedIn profile, Ann Michael majored in business administration with a double minor in entrepreneurship and conflict management.
Ann Michael is also an athlete
Yep! While football is Drake’s thing, Ann Michael played softball and basketball in high school. He praised her sportsmanship during a press conference ahead of the Super Bowl. “She’s a great athlete,” he said, adding, “She beats me at a lot of sports.”
They got married in 2025
Drake and Ann Michael tied the knot in June 2025 at the ages of 23 and 22 years old, respectively.
Drake has no regrets about getting married young, either. During a press conference, he said, “My teammates have the right to whatever they choose but I would definitely advise them to eventually get married. It’s one of the best things I’ve experienced in my life. There’s no better feeling than coming home to a wife that loves you and cares for you.”
He added, “I know my teammates, some of them are experiencing different parts of their life. I chose to get married young, and I don’t regret it one bit.”
