In the fourth and most recent season of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) finds himself in quite the pickle, framed for the murder of one of his own clients. With a $5 million bail he couldn't post, he has to enlist the help of his entire team and build his defense from within the entrapments of a jail cell—all the while facing threats to his very life.
Knowing the premise of season 4 has left everyone wondering: Could this possible be the end of Mickey Haller? How is the defense lawyer going to be able to bounce back after such a huge scandal? And does this mean that The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 is happening?
Is The Lincoln Lawyer coming back for season 5?
Great news for all Mickey Haller fans! We will be seeing the attorney riding his iconic Lincoln around LA once again. Netflix has already confirmed the return of The Lincoln Lawyer for season 5. The streamer made the announcement more than a week ahead of season 4's release.
Co-showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ted Humphrey told Tudum, "We’re so excited to share the upcoming season with the audience on Feb. 5, and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one. Season 4 is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season 5!"
Just like seasons 1 through 4, there will be a total of ten, nearly-hour-long episodes for the hit legal drama's fifth season.
What is 'The Lincoln Lawyer' season 5 going to be about?
According to Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 will be inspired by the seventh book in Michael Connelly's The Lincoln Lawyer book series: Resurrection Walk. The book follows defense attorney Mickey Haller as he teams up with his half-brother, former LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch. The two work together in order to exonerate a woman named Lucinda Sans who was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her husband, who was a sheriff's deputy.
Watch 'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 4
Because the new season is only "inspired by" the events in book seven, we don't expect it to follow it play by play. A big difference between the books and the show is that Harry Bosch—who is the star of another one of Connelly's book series—doesn't play a role in Netflix's Lincoln Lawyer universe. (Probably because Bosch is a series of its own on Amazon Prime Video.) But the terms of the case will likely be the same, with Haller trying to help exonerate an incarcerated woman.
Who's coming back for season 5 from 'The Lincoln Lawyer' cast?
Of course, the show wouldn't be complete with our main man, the Lincoln Lawyer himself Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. In its announcement, Netflix mentioned that Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and latest cast addition Cobie Smulders will all be back.
When will The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 come out?
While Netflix has announced the return of The Lincoln Lawyer for season 5, the company hasn't announced a release date just yet. However, if production has already begun given that the co-showrunners have said they're "already hard at work on the next one," then the fifth season should come out within a year. So we're at a release date sometime in February/ March 2027, folks!
In the meantime, you can rewatch all four seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. Or, perhaps, read all eight books from the original series of novels.
