Sorry to everyone hoping to see Ariana Grande on the Grammys red carpet, but she skipped the event. However, due to being an absolute legend, she still took home an award.
Ariana was nominated alongside her costar Cynthia Erivo for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance thanks to “Defying Gravity” from the Wicked soundtrack, and they won!
Ari even hopped on Instagram to celebrate:
TBD on why Ariana wasn’t at the Grammys, but she’s been super busy—on top of prepping for her tour (!!!), she was just at the Golden Globes, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Ari told The Hollywood Reporter, “It is definitely just as exciting [as last year’s nomination] and kind of blindsiding. You don’t expect something like this, let alone [for it] to happen twice for the same role. So I’m just deeply honored. I’m just really moved by it.”
Ari also just chatted to Vogue Japan about taking a break soon, saying, “I think that it would probably be healthy to. I’m not used to taking breaks. But yeah, these past few years have been pretty nonstop. And by few, I mean 15. Balance is the goal for the next 15 years…I don’t think they will look like the previous 15 years. I think there will be more balance.”
