Brace yourselves—the most unexpected crossover just dropped. Paige DeSorbo sat down with Martha Stewart on her Amazon Live show, In Bed With Paige DeSorbo, and the episode was overflowing with hot takes. The Daphne founder and the OG trad-wife-turned-entrepreneur covered everything from sheet preferences to morning and nighttime routines to dating green flags, and we’re recapping it all.
Martha said Paige isn't changing her sheets enough...
Bed sheets were a major topic of discussion. “Unless you have a housekeeper that’s going to change your bedsheets everyday and a laundress who’s going to wash and iron the sheets everyday, forget linen,” Stewart says. She's pro percale and sateen. DeSorbo agreed, noting she loves percale for its soft, cooling feel.
When asked the million-dollar "How often sheets should be changed?" question, Stewart said hers are swapped every two to three days, thanks to her housekeepers. “I’ve worked very hard and I might as well have fresh sheets,” she says. But when DeSorbo says she changes her sheets once a week, Stewart advises that it might be too long. "I think you should change them every five days."
Martha gave Paige a bed frame that will fit a tall boyfriend
She redesigned Paige's entire set with pieces from her own collection (so on brand for Martha, TBH). She likes bold design when it’s done with intention and taste, but rejects anything gauche (citing Hugh Hefner’s black satin sheets... specific!). DeSorbo gave the European countryside-inspired makeover her seal of approval, calling it “elegant” and “charming.”
She pointed out that her platform bed frame does not have a footboard, “so you’re not going to hit your feet on it. If you have a tall boyfriend, his feet can hang over the end.” Another piece they raved about is the console table, repurposed as a nightstand. “I love demi lunes [half moon, crescent shaped furniture], because they don’t take up too much room. They do accommodate a lamp and the water next to you in bed.”
Martha kinda read Paige, by accident, twice!
She's anti-bed rotting: Stewart didn't even know what bed rotting means. “I couldn’t do that ever, I have never done that in my entire life… That’s not a concept I can even approve of.” Should we tell her she's on the wrong show, or...
And she's anti-pajamas “I do not wear pajamas," Stewart says, leaving the Daphne founder aghast. "I like nightgowns. I don’t like things around my waist at night. I don’t like pants in bed.” Okay!
Martha's a.m. and p.m. routines
Morning: Stewart starts her mornings with a workout and cappuccinos for herself, her trainer, and her driver. Showering before the gym is non-negotiable, and she even puts on a little glam! "I use my Elm Biosciences A3O Elemental Serum, then mix that with my Alastin Tinted Sunscreen," plus blush and then lip gloss.
Night: She keeps two iPads and her phone by her bed. If she can’t sleep, she’ll drain one iPad watching movies and switch to the second rather than get up to charge it. A wise woman. She also reads The New York Times, does the crossword, plays Wordle, and does her Letterboxd.
Martha's dating green flags
Stewart appreciates a simple good morning or goodnight text, plant dads ("Just having a plant is nice for a man, most of them are such morons" !!!!), and guys who take initiative to plan dates and pick restaurants. But of course, if they choose the wrong one, it could ruin the entire vibe. Surprisingly, Stewart doesn’t mind if her partner eats in bed, but it’s something she wouldn't do herself.
