• The Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni dispute over It Ends With Us is ongoing, with new court documents released ahead of a Jan. 22 hearing.
  • Among the revelations is a May 2024 email in which Blake asked Ben Affleck—her former co-star on The Town—to watch her cut of the film and offer feedback.
  • Blake also described the “upsetting” experience of making the film and working with “chaotic clown” Justin.

In case you either (a) somehow weren’t aware or (b) simply lost interest, the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni drama over It Ends With Us continues. Ahead of their next hearing date on January 22 (which will include oral arguments), court documents were released, revealing exchanges between the Gossip Girl alum and several A-list friends. And while her alleged text convo with Taylor Swift is pretty 👀, I’m here today to talk about Blake Lively’s alleged email to Ben Affleck asking for a surprising favor.

In her May 2024 email to the actor (which you can read in full right this way), Blake—who previously starred alongside Ben in 2011’s The Town—made a “zero pressure ask” that Ben watch her cut of It Ends With Us and provide “any ideas or notes” he might have. (As a reminder: Blake and Justin reportedly both edited their own versions of the film after an alleged creative struggle.)

Blake mentioned that she’d “love” to get his “wife” Jennifer Lopez’s opinion on her version of the film as well—not realizing, of course, that Ben and J.Lo had privately separated the month before. “I’m such a fan of Jennifer’s, I’ve told her as much every time I’ve met her, and it would be an honor to have her take,” Blake explained.

Of her “upsetting experience” making the movie, Blake said the process “nearly killed” her, alluding to “wild HR issues” and “the chaotic clown ‘director’/actor/producer/financier/studio head at the center” (though she doesn’t actually name Justin).

“It’s like if Wild Wild Country, Fyre Festival, and Going Clear had a baby with The Room,” she revealed.

She also mentioned in her alleged email (seemingly alluding to Justin) that “he and everyone he had on the movie is in a cult” and “if I would’ve just formally directed it, it would’ve been much easier.”

Truly, this case is the gift that keeps on giving.
