As a big-chested girlie and frequent gym-goer, it usually feels like I have two choices when it comes to activewear: Wear a bulky, unattractive sports bra that actually fits, or forgo support in favor of a cute set.
Trust me: I wear-test clothing for a living, and I've tried nearly every brand and style out there (Alo, Beyond Yoga, and Aerie—you name it). Time after time, I've been disappointed by the lack of support and minimal coverage. That is, until I tried this $30 longline sports bra from Old Navy and my workout wardrobe was forever changed.
I've been saying for years that Old Navy's cute, budget-friendly activewear is severely underrated. Still, as soon as I put this tank top on for the first time, I was shocked by how well it lifted my chest and hugged my waist. It's available in sizes XS through 4XL, and a medium (AKA, my usual size) fit perfectly—so I'd suggest grabbing your normal top size.
Compared to other styles I've tried, its fabric is quite compressive with moderate stretch. It's described as having "light support" online, so I was expecting it to offer a barely-there feel that would only work for yoga and light stretching. Instead, I found that it covered my chest without extreme cleavage and kept my girls in place during weightlifting sessions, Pilates classes, and even elliptical jogs.
The secret, I believe, is in its construction. A lot of sports bra-tank top hybrids only have a flimsy shelf for support, but this pick has a structured inner band that goes all the way around your back to hold everything in place. It also has a hidden seam that helps separate the breasts, preventing the dreaded "uniboob" look. Another plus? This top has straps that go over the shoulders, rather than a racerback, so it evenly distributes the weight of my chest without causing neck pain.
Clearly, I'm not the only fan of this bra top; it has 5,500 five-star ratings and counting. "I have a large bust, and I find that very few exercise tops actually give good support and are flattering without giving a uniboob," one reviewer said. "But let me tell you! The girls are lifted and not sagging like usual and this top is so comfortable. Literally have nothing but positive things to say about this."
"Yes! This is the one," another shopper added. "Bustier gals who prefer less cleavage, stop what you're doing and buy this top. I've gotten so many compliments on it. I'm considering buying more colors due to the great quality and comfort."
One more thing I adore about Old Navy? They're pretty much always hosting a sale, which means that you can score this best-selling tank for just $21 right now. And in case your activewear collection could use a refresh, I've highlighted a few more of my favorite Old Navy activewear finds to add to cart, below.
